From Saws to Software: My Journey to the Forest Cottage

My journey to this blog didn’t start behind a desk, but in the heart of the Estonian forests. I began my career as a logger’s assistant at a time when harvesters were just starting to take over manual labor. This experience taught me the value of hard work and the importance of reliable tools.

Life has been a series of diverse challenges:

  • On Estonian Construction Sites: I worked as an electrician on major projects, from Tartu Kaubamaja to the school in Kiili. When I talk about wiring and 16-amp breakers, it’s because I’ve installed miles of them with my own hands.
  • In Scandinavia: My path took me to Oslo and its surroundings, where I learned the high standards of Nordic craftsmanship.
  • The High North: I once worked as a projectionist in a cinema in the far north of Norway. In such a harsh climate, you truly learn to appreciate warmth and light.
  • Into IT: Curiosity eventually led me to the tech world. I started as a software tester in Estonia, and today, my career remains focused on IT.

For me, every challenge is a chance to tell myself, “Look, you did it!”. Nowadays, when I leave the digital world behind to return to my old forest cottage, I am simply a happy man who loves to build. This blog is where I share the practical wisdom gathered from forests, construction sites, and tech offices, helping you build a better home.
