Alright everyone, you won’t believe the absolute goldmine I just stumbled upon. It’s one of those crazy stories you have to see to believe.
I was browsing through local deals in Estonia and noticed a Bosch Professional GWX 9-125 S (the one with speed regulation and the X-LOCK system) listed on clearance for a ridiculous €69. The product description simply stated: “ex-display model, no original packaging.” Standard clearance stuff, so I locked it in.
When the package arrived at the parcel terminal, to my surprise, the box was actually there — a bit weathered and beaten by time, but intact. It even featured that legendary factory sticker: “World’s First”, which Bosch only slapped onto the very first promotional batches. But the real shock came when I pulled the tool out and looked closely at the metal nameplate.
The production date stamped on it was 03/2019.
Let that sink in. March 2019 was the exact month Bosch officially launched the X-LOCK system to the global market following its premiere at the Kölnmesse. This means I am literally holding a piece of power tool history — a unit from the very first pilot batch ever produced and sent out to key distributors for display! It sat brand-new and untouched in a warehouse for over 7 years.
But here is the ultimate kicker: just out of curiosity, I registered the serial number in the official Bosch PRO360 app. And guess what? The system accepted it without a single hiccup and granted a full 3-year official warranty valid until 2029! Talk about an absolute win-win combo strike.
🛠️ The Dilemma — I Need Your Input:
Now I’m facing a serious choice, and I want to ask the community. What should I do with this artifact?
- Keep it as a museum piece? Clean the dust off, put it on a shelf in the workshop, and preserve it as a pristine example of the batch that started the whole X-LOCK era.
- Put it to heavy work? Take this 7-year-old brand-new veteran straight to the construction site and test its limits, especially since Bosch officially backed it up with a warranty until 2029.
